Godzilland: Addition Review

I have discussed the subtraction review and now I will talk about the Addition one.

I should mention about the history of the Godzilland sub-franchise. If you want to skip all this and see me actually talking about the episode, scroll down till you start seeing pics.

I found a few sites that talked about it. It started in during 1984 to celebrate Godzilla's 30th anniversary and the release of a new Godzilla movie called Return of Godzilla or Godzilla 1984(or 1985 depending you are going by US release). The 1st one in over a decade and 1st in the Heisei Timeline.

Godzilland had Godzilla and the gang in cartoony artwork and they a ton of merchandise of stickers, bored games, cards, etc.

There were two games that came in the US. One on MSX in 1985 and one on Game Boy in 1990. I'm sure anyone who were speaking English were scratching their heads why Godzilla is so tiny in those games. The internet was in it's infant years after all, so no one knew anything.

To promote Godzilla vs. Mothra: The Battle for the Earth in 1992. There was a live-action trivia show. Some parts have a Godzilla suit interacting with humans and later showed a cartoony Godzilla during intermissions and in the corner.

The same thing happen again in 1993 to promote Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II. (The II doesn't really serve a purpose since this is a reboot with MechaG having different origins.)

In 1994, they released two episodes of the Godzilla cartoon on VHS. The ones that didn't get subtitled. The ones that did get fan subtitled were release on VHS in 1996. After that, the sub-franchise of Godzilland ended.

The destroyer of Tokyo is making breakfast.

Godzilla and the human were counting the number of pancakes and the Big G added a few more to the plate and started discussing addition. This leads to him talking about his childhood.

It starts with Godzilla and Anguirus fighting.
They are reenacting their scene from Godzilla Raids Again.

Gee, despite being best buds, they sure fight alot when they were kids.

Godzilla met up with Godzilly
Godzilla is mad because Anguirus bit his tail but according to Godzilly, the King of the Monsters started it by biting Anguirus' leg. He realized what went wrong and decide to apologizeto him.

Meanwhile...
Wait, wouldn't your spiky back rip that to shreds?

Mechagodzilla met with our fellow kaiju and told him he wants to play with him in his cave.

After all, you broke my jaw in your 1st movie.

Like the previous episode, he is forcefully trying to make friends.

Baragon warns Godzilla whats going on. As MechaG is flying away with Anguirus in his arms. Godzilla then does this...
It barely goes beyond a few feet. Geez, does somebody need to step on your tail to release your full blast like what you do to your son.

Minya only shoots pathetic smoke rings unless his dad steps on his tail.

The real reason Godzilla can't shoot atomic breath is because he's has an empty stomach.

They go to the trees and gather oranges. Godzilla lay out three and Godzilly lay out two. Meaning they are teaching kids addition. They did the same thing again to feed Godzilly oranges too since she too is hungry.

We now got a filler song scene about addition. Now back to the plot.

 That's alot fish

Godzilla plans to barbecue the fish.
However, I think he cooked it a little too much.

They counted everyone's pile of fishes and add them together to teach the kids.

Rodan comes in and "morphs" into the addiction symbol. I guess if you squint your eyes, it may look like a plus sign.

On their way, they hear voices.
This is how they see humans when rampaging though the cities.

Seriously ants is blocking your path. Just step on them, smack them with your tail, or shoot your atomic breath.

They won't let Godzilla and the gang through. They got reinforcements to back them up. Being educational to the kids. The gang use addition on the number of ants.

Then this happens.
He defeated Ghidorah, Gigan, Hedorah, MechaG, Destoroyah, but he can't handle a few ants.

The ants told them they are tresspassing into their flower garden and the kaiju apologized.

Don't step on them are you gonna catch Holy Hell.

We got another filler song about addition.

I admit I fast forward these education scenes and music videos.

We finally got to where MechaG is forcing Anguirus to play.
Ouch!! Stepping on the groin.

Our Heroes are climbing up the steep mountain. They are not enjoying it.
But you can fly.

Yeah, this was one of those weird moments from the 70s that fans like to forget.

MechaG comes out of the cave and says he releases their friend if they answer all his questions about addition correctly. Like the other episode, he's dressed up like a game show host.

What a sore loser.
Anguirus leaves the cave and give his bro a hug.

MechaG realized again that you shouldn't force people to play and apologized to the gang.

Where were you when Anguirus was taken? You could of swoop in and help. Great help you were.

They ended the episode with another filler song. Somebody uploaded a 4-minute clip of the songs if you want to see.

The last part was back in live action. Godzilla told the human to close her eyes and when she open, they were all gone. Geez, Godzilly is right. You are a miser.

It's like what I said in the Subtraction part. It's obviously it's made to teach kids. It is however neat to find a interesting forgotten piece in Godzilla franchise however. It's kinda funny to imagine the kaiju version of Muppet Babies.

Godzilland: Subtraction Review

Back in the 90s, the Heisei Godzilla movies were being released in theaters. He battled plant clones, evil time travelers, Mothra and her meaner twin bro, alien crystal clones, monsters born out of the Oxygen Destroyer. Good times.

However during that time, there was educational Godzilla anime that was only four episodes released on VHS(and later uploaded to YouTube decades later)

Only two of the four got subtitled by fans. I be reviewing the subbed ones.

The episode starts with your typical anime opening.
Baragon and Moguera digging.

There must be some Kaiju far more powerful than Rodan to blow away King Ghidorah and Gigan with hurricane winds.

The symbol of a nuclear bomb is playing jump rope.

There's one scene where Godzilla shoot his atomic breath and it damaged the moon. The next shot showed this.

We got a live-action segment of Godzilla and a human getting ready to have strawberry cupcakes. I guess Godzilla has his son Minilla's powers or Jet Jaguar's to change to human sized.
Yes, the destroyer of Tokyo is having cupcakes.

They notice they don't have enough strawberries for the cupcakes and Godzilla use subtraction to see how many strawberryless cupcakes he has. They then talked about Godzilly and how she was a nice sweet girl. During the discussion, Godzilla is blushing. You read that right.

They flashback to cartoon times.

There is a female pink Godzilla. She's officially called Gojirin, which is a more feminine version of Gojira(Godzilla's Japanese name.) The fan translators called her Godzilly. Her dorsal fins look like hearts and she has eyelashes. Don't ask me how lizards have eyelashes?

Godzilla wanted to give Godzilly some oranges. He wanted to share with her but he realized his oranges fall on an odd number and he can't figure out how many to give.
You have two brains in your body and you can't figure out simple math.

Mothra came to help Godzilla out. She's the only "adult" in the show. She does have two Larva Mothras(her kids basically) around on the island. She's basically the Nanny from Muppet Babies but with a face.
Your not Pac-Man

Mothra tries to help out by covering the oranges in yellow balls. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's poison powder to kill the G-Man to prevent him killing her in 1964 or to save Battra 1992.

Lola Bunny Godzilly came to help Godzilla and she easily figure out it.

Then Godzilla jokes maybe he should have all the oranges to himself.

We got a quick song session about subtraction. After that, we got transitions with Gigan flying and Moguera coming out of the dirt. That's their only scenes in these episodes. :(

The next session has Anguirus going all White Rabbit saying, "I'm late, I'm late.

Skeeter Godzilly is having her birthday party.
Suddenly, Anguirus came busting in.

The G-Man is jelly.

I guess the reason they fought in Godzilla Raids Again was over her.
So much for phrase, Pals before Gals.

Skin? But your reptiles. Your skin should be all hard and scaly.

Godzilla and Baragon try to compete who had the most apples.

Mothra came in the middle of dudes fighting over a women and suddenly turn this into a math session.

Godzilla had a little more than Anguirus, while Baragon.
That's payback for stomping on me on GMK.

But in the end, Godzilly told everyone.
They laugh. I guess they had a feast afterwards.

Godzilla notice Godzilly is watering flowers at her window and decide to give her extra plants while she's sleeping.

Isn't that breaking and entering?

Also, why Godzilla sleeps in hard rocky caverns and deep underwater crevices when she sleeps in a neat comfy bed?

She notice the next morning she has new flowers and used subtraction to count the amount of flowers she got. The next night, Godzilla does the same thing and she used subtraction again. She soon learn who put them on her window soon enough.

Then she learn where they come from..
Uh oh
Your in trouble now

The next scene we got another subtraction song.

Next scene is back to live action and the girl was asking about Godzilly. Godzilla immediately falls from his chair.

Next scene starts with MechaGodzilla wanting to play with Godzilly.

Unfortunately, MechaG doesn't have a cool robotic voice. Instead, he has your typically regular kids voice just like every other character on the show.

He is very forceful to make her play with him.
She screams for help, the noise reaches Rodan.

Your eyes are not playing tricks. The G-Man is surfing.

Rodan catches up with Godzilla and Anguirus and tells them the news. Rodan stay behind. Seeing he died from MechaG in the 90s, it's probably a good idea.

Our two kaiju met up with MechaG. He will release Godzilly if they win a game of math. Don't you like it people try to settle serious matters through a game. I like to see an alien invasion prevented just because somebody won a game of that they were challenged to.
Funny he was able to change while holding her tail down.

They were able to solve all his questions and this causes MechaGodzilla to leave.

Geez for a robot, he is very emotional.

Godzilly is released and happily jump into Godzilla's arms...In front of Anguirus.

Being the 3rd wheel sucks.

Another subtraction song happen. During the times they show math throughout the episode, the Mothra Larva "morphs" into a subtraction symbol.

Mothra spots the crybaby MechaGodzilla and ask him what happen. He told her the events on the pier. She told him to go to the other kaiju to apologized.

They accept his apology and let him join games of jump rope and soccer.

It's obviously to aimed towards kids. Your not suppose to take this seriously. I can see several Godzilla fans being angry that Godzilla and everyone else is all kiddy like. It's sort like the kaiju version of Muppet Babies.

I guess you bring kids to watch it to learn math but with the show in Japanese, it may be a little harder since they may still learning to read as well.

I will say it's far superior than Godzilla's Revenge. People is going to watch every Godzilla movie, including that terrible movie. How you feel if you watch 3 serious Avengers movies and then the 4th one is about a random kid falling asleep and dreams he's inside the Avenger tower and become buddies with Iron-Man's son who has a voice like Goofy and they watch the Avengers battle outside with nothing but stock footage. It isn't a obscure cartoon spinoff aimed towards kids, it's part of the main line of the MCU.
