I'm going to make you watch Solo: A Star Wars story and...Err yeah, that's the title and he made up his last name on the fly.
1. You will cry...That they recast Harrison Ford.
2. That they can't adapt the Han Solo Trilogy now that Rouge One rewrote the story of the theft of the Death Star plans.
3. That you didn't see Tag and Bink.
Man, no one came to see Solo to see Han and Chewie, they came to Tag and Bink...if they ain't here, then what's the point of watching?
4. That Aurra Sing dies offscreen.
What!? Great, 1st Ackbar dies now her. How can you kill off a popular character like that?
*Major major spoilers ahead. Skip to the next part if you don't want to be spoiled.*
5. That Maul is back from the dead with no explanation. Great, 1st Tseng in FF7: Advent Children, then Barricade and Wheelie randomly came back from dead from Transformers: The Last Knight and now this.
How are you alive? I watched Obi-wan sliced you in half in Phantom Menace and...Wait a minute, I actually seen Clone Wars and Rebels. So why am I writing this?
Note#1- There was some backlash that they recast Ford but the guy is in his 70s and this is a movie of his early adventures long before we saw him in Episode 4.
Heck, this isn't the first time that Ford was recast by younger actors. There was the Young Indiana Jones series where Indy is homeschool and traveling the world with his father and then his adventures in WWI. He meets many famous people from the early 20th century.
Note#2- I took a brief look at the summary of the Han Solo Trilogy. It was a trio of books from the pre-Disney Expanded Universe that told how Han meet Chewie and how he got involved with Jabba, Boba Fett, and Lando. One of them is Han's former love interest was part of the Rebels and one of the many people that helped get the Death Star plans to Leia's ship. With Disney rebooting everything outside of the movies, Rouge One ended up being the new story of how the Death Star plans got stolen.
Solo is not an adaptation of any of the Expanded Universe story. They may take certain material from the old timeline but it's not an adaptation.
Note#3-
Tag and Bink are a comical duo from a Star Wars comic miniseries. Their series isn't canon to the films nor to the expanded universe. Made by the same people who made the popular fanfilm, TROOPS.
They were two guys trying to survive and their meddling accidentally caused several events seen in the original trilogy. According to the comics, they are responsible for C-3P0 blowing up on Cloud City, the stormtroopers that didn't notice Kenobi powering down the tractor beam, and the death of "Many Bothams".
There was a prequel of them accidentally deleting a planet from the Jedi archives and giving Anakin (bad) lines to court Padme.
They were going to be in Solo during a small scene but their scene was cut.
Note#4-"You're Tobias Beckett. You killed Aurra Sing."
"Pushed her. Pretty sure the fall killed her."
―Lando Calrissian and Tobias Beckett
Aurra is a bounty hunter that was 1st seen in the Phantom Menace for a full three seconds during the pod racing scene. Star Wars does have the habit of making photo shoots of every single background character and make action figures of them and I do mean every single character. She did appear later in books and comics and a recurring character in Clone Wars.
However in Solo, it's simply an implied death, meaning she may not be dead. Boba Fett went through worse and we actually saw his "death" onscreen and he ended up living.
*Warning!! Ending Spoilers* Skip to the next movie
Note#5- At the very end of the movie, the man whose secretly in charge of Crimson Dawn is Maul himself. This confused alot people because the last time most moviegoers saw him is when he got "killed" by Obi-Wan.
However in the TV show, Clone Wars, the end of season 4 revealed that Maul was alive.
He upgrade his robo-legs later on to look less robotic looking.
How exactly he cheated death was kinda laughable but some of the stories he appeared since his return were pretty epic. Unfortunately, Maul's fate was unresolved due to Clone Wars to be cancelled because of the Disney buyoff.(Which is uncancelled recently)
He appeared in Rebels that takes place a few years before A New Hope, meaning that the former Sith survived the Clone Wars and still alive.
While his survival from bisection was explained from the show, the problem is that most people didn't watch the show. Some people watch the movies and only them. You can't assume everyone is a hardcore fan of the franchise.
Even if characters like Boba Fett, General Grievous, or Saw Gerrera 1st appeared in animated shows, you weren't required to watch them, you can simply watch the movies to learn enough about them.
I'm going to make you watch Ocean's 8 and you will cry that....Hey where's the backlash?
Note- Once upon a time, there was all-female reboot of Ghostbusters and well, the internet was not happy. I know next paragraph sounds all political and everyone has clashing views. I try to keep it neutral.
This wasn't the Ghostbusters 3 that people waited for years. Some people said the movie looked unfunny. Some people fired back at the people who disliked it and quickly claim they are male-chauvinist pigs. Also you should judge by a trailer alone. However some say that a bad movie is simply a bad movie, regardless if the cast is all female or not. Some say they are not against females treated more equally but they not happy seeing a feminist agenda being shoved over a good story.
However your entitled to see the 2016 reboot if you want. It may be the coolest thing ever and it blow the 2020 movie out of the water, or it be the lamest thing ever that makes the (other) Ghost Busters with the ape look like a masterpiece.
Anyways, back to Ocean's 8. I did not know this existed till I saw spotted a DVD display endcap at stores. I was like, "Did this get any backlash?". I admit, I never saw any of the Ocean movies. I remember they were big back in the day. This somehow avoided backlash because maybe it's because people didn't know about it? According to youtube comments, people are complaining so there is some level of backlash but not on the scale like Ghostbusters. The small amount of hate could be another reasons, this is a spinoff and not a reboot. Also, the Ocean movies may not have the same type of fanbase as Ghostbusters.
Here's the trailer if you want to watch
1. You will cry...When you see all the dinos that were left behind when the volcano erupted.
2. That Dr. Ian Malcolm and Dr. Henry Wu were barely in it.
3. That they still don't have feathers.
Note#1- Admit it, that scene really did got to you.
Note#2- I kinda had a feeling that Ian only had a small role and he's there for manly for fanservice and...No I'm not talking about that shirtless scene. Even in the trailers, you can tell he was mainly in the press meetings.
Dr. Henry Wu on the other hand, I expected he had a bigger role at least. He was a minor hi and bye character in the original movie but years later, he came back as a full fledged villain that help made the Indominus Rex to be way too powerful. I kinda guess he be back to make more trouble but all he did was make small appearances during auction scenes.
Note#3- Yes, I'm going to keep bringing up dinosaurs and feathers whenever I can.
You will cry...That this is the movie that ruined Justice League and it's all Tom Cruise's fault.
All because Henry Cavill was under contract to not shave his mustache. Now we got stuck with his CGI-ed upper lip. Thanks alot.
Speaking about DC...
1. I'm going to make you watch Teen Titans Go to the Movies.
2. You will cry...When you see Superman...Played by Nicholas Cage.
Note#1 -Once upon a time, there was a show in the mid-2000s called Teen Titans that was based on a group of the same name from DC comics. The show was popular and lasted a while. The show had a recent reboot called Teen Titans Go and it became the most hated thing in recent years.
I never watch it other than a few minutes and it doesn't seem good. I don't pay attention what's on Cartoon Network nowdays but most of the time, when I'm browsing what's on, you see Teen Titans Go marathons on the channel. CN really really loves the show and wants to milk it dry. You literally can't watch anything else on the channel.
However from what I heard, the movie that's based on show wasn't bad actually and from what it sounds, it's better than the show itself. If you want to watch it, feel free to.
Note#2- Nicholas Cage as Superman is kinda the last person I expected to be cast. He tried to be him back in the 90s.
Look! It's bird. No it's a plane. NOOOO IT'S THE BEEEEES!!!! WAAHHH!!!! A B C D E F G....
Yes, this is real. When I first heard this, I was like, "Really?" Tim Burton try to make a movie based on the famous Death of Superman story but it didn't get made. However, Cage get to be Superman finally in Teen Titans Go and actually did a good job.
Yes, Slade at the end of the trailer made fun of the show itself.
1. You will cry...That all these years, the Predators didn't collect spines as trophies.
2. That the most powerful warrior on the planet is...A kid with autism.
3. That the Predators only came to the planet these past few decades because mankind is killing it with global warming, despite the fact they have an antique gun from centuries before car engines.
2. That the most powerful warrior on the planet is...A kid with autism.
3. That the Predators only came to the planet these past few decades because mankind is killing it with global warming, despite the fact they have an antique gun from centuries before car engines.
Note#1-Fans were not happy they rewrote years of Predator lore. According to it, they collect spines to gather DNA to create a super race of Predators.
Note#2- The movie is saying this kid with autism is the "strongest warrior" and the "next step in human evolution". The kid is smart and has gifts and stuff but it's just strange a predator movie is making a big deal about this kid. I feel like the movie is trying to go political on stuff it fully doesn't understand. Even people with autism felt offended by this.
Note#3- Again, the movie seriously pushing political messages that's poorly thought out that doesn't fit in the context of the world. It's true this came out before the new Prey movie on Hulu but even you ignore dozen EU comics, or AVP films that's all non-canon, the 2nd film ended with the main character getting antique gun as a reward from the Predators, meaning they been on Earth on several times before car engines.
You will cry...That Spider-Man doesn't exist in the same world as Venom. What!? You can't have Venom without Spider-Man, how's that possible? I mean He's basically a evil counterpart of Spidey.
That be like Nemesis Prime without Optimus Prime. Vanitas without Ven. Liquid without Solid Snake. Reverse Flash without Flash. Mileena without Kitana. MechaGodzilla without Godzilla. Dark Link without Link. SA-X without Samus.
*Post-credits spoilers ahead*
That you don't see Carnage until the very last minute.
What!? 1st we don't have Spidey and now we don't see the 2nd famous symbiote in Marvel but we get some lesser known Riot.
Note#1- Venom started out as Peter Parker's alien black costume in the 80s but he casted it out and it soon bonded to Eddie Brock. He had a grudge against Pete for getting him fired and he joined with Venom for revenge.
Venom did had the memories and abilities of Spider-Man. He looked like a beefed up version of black suit Spider-Man.
Later on, they ended up become more like anti-heroes in the 90s. The movie skipped his connection to Spidey and go straight to Lethal Protector and Planets of Symbiotes stories.
It is a stand alone that simply wanted to focus on the popular character and didn't want to connect to Tom Holland's Spider-Man.(At the time I'm writing this)
Note#2- Carnage is a spawn of Venom that bonded to a serial character. He is far more evil that both Spidey and Venom have to face. Seems they are setting him up for the sequel.
1. You will cry...That they are doing away of the video game characters.
Instead we get Disney Princesses.
What!? I only know half these characters.
2. That they tease you with the scene of the exploding buddy and the trailer of Frozen 2.
Where was this scene?
Note#1- The 1st movie highly advertised their game characters. However they were mostly cameos and most of the movie focus on Ralph in original worlds. Even they were simply cameos, Ralph and the rest movie was pretty good on it's own and fun to watch. Even if they did away the game cameos in the 2nd movie is still enjoyable.
The trailers mostly focus Ralph and Vanellope exploring the internet and on the Disney princesses. I can imagine the people who mainly came to see the game characters were disappointed.
I did grew up seeing the Disney Renaissance movies at school when the teachers bring in the TVs and I watch several of the Disney shows but I didn't follow Disney completely as I got older. I can tell you most of the Disney movies I seen in the pass 10 years was mostly Toy Story(because I enjoyed the originals) and Wreck-It Ralph. I'm interested in seeing live-action Aladdin and Lion King but not interested in Dumbo.
Heck, I didn't watch Frozen till this past year and that's because I didn't want to be confused when I play Kingdom Hearts 3 on not knowing the plot or characters of Frozen and Kingdom Hearts itself is a very complicated game. So you can kinda see why some people were kinda disappointed they did away with video game characters.
Note#2- There was a scene in the trailers where Ralph entered a mobile game where he kept feeding a rabbit till it exploded. That was not seen in the entire movie but during the credits, it showed a girl in her car mentioning she enjoyed the movie but was disappointed a scene from the trailer wasn't in the movie, the very next scene showed the rabbit feeding part.
The post-credits said they are now showing a sneak peek of Frozen 2 and suddenly, it showed Ralph singing, Never Going To Give You Up. A song that became an internet meme to trick people.
1. You will cry...When you see Spider-Man...Played by Nicholas Cage.
2a. When you see Spider-Man, a fair-skin male...Played by a blond girl/Played by a Japanese girl. Oh great, it's bad enough to see an overweight loudmouth blond male in the 2014 Ninja Turtles film is played by Whoopi Goldburg somehow and now they changing Spider-Man. Also guess what, they also made Doctor Octopus into a woman.
2b. When you see Spider-Man...Played by a black guy.
2c. When you see Spider-Man...As a pig.
3. That Spider-Man dies early in the movie. What!? You can't kill off it's title character like that.
4.
- That you don't see the rocking mohawk wearing Spider-Punk.
- The man from the infamous Clone Saga, Scarlet Spider.
- Japanese Spider-Man who can summon giant mechas into battle to fight kaijus.
- Ghost Spider, the hybrid of Ghost Rider and Spider-Man
- Peter Parquagh from the Colonial era.
- May Parker, the daughter of an alternate Peter and MJ.
- Tobey Maguire/Andrew Garfield/PS4 Game/Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends/90s cartoon/Spectacular Cartoon/Ultimate Cartoon.
*Post Credits spoilers*
5. That you only see Spider-Man 2099 and 60s cartoon Spider-Man at the very last minute.
Note#1- I pretty much said the same thing earlier on this blog. However Spider-Man is suppose to be a teen/college kid, and Nicholas Cage far older. However he plays Spider-Man Noir who wasn't your typical Peter Parker. He was from alternate universe with a dark and gritty 1930s crime drama theme. I mainly said this to people just to hear their reactions, not knowing it's animated or he's playing a different Spider-Man all together.
Note#2- Casting a famous character as a different race or gender has been controversial choice. Some hate it, some don't mind it. I only say that Spider-Man is now a(black guy/woman/pig) only to see people's reactions. This is partly true in the movie. The thing is this movie is a multiversal crossover event that's based on a comic miniseries from 2014. Miles Morales is a guy in his universe who picks up the mantle after Peter Parker is killed. Gwen from her universe got bit by the radioactive spider instead of Parker and he died in her arms instead of her. Then you got all these other universes.
And we also see Spider-Man's iconic nemesis as a woman. There was a twist midway in the movie that reveal this woman was this universe's version of Doc Ock. This is a different universe where they can play the rules differently without messing with the "main" universe.
Note#3- Peter Parker does dies early in the movie. The actual main character is really Miles Morales.
In the 2000s, there is series called Ultimate Spider-Man that retells the story of Spider-Man in another universe. At one point, they killed off Peter Parker and I don't mean he "died" and come back later, I mean he died for real. The series continued when Miles ended up getting bit from a radioactive spider and took the mantle. Meanwhile, the original Spider-Man from the original Marvel comics is still alive to this day.
The Peter that died early in the movie is based on the one who died while Peter we throughout most of the movie is more based on Earth 616/mainstream/the original guy himself who landed in Miles' world.
Note#4- Not every single version of Spider-Man couldn't make it. Marvel does like to make What If stories and look at alternate universes. Marvel did a storyline in 2014 called Spider-Verse that featured dozen versions of Spider-Man working together. Some were originally created for that storyline. The movie itself was loosely based on that.
Note#5- Spider-Man 2099 is a man named Miguel O'Hara from a futuristic world who is fuzed with spider DNA. He is one of the popular alternate incarnations of Spidey. He landed in the world of the 67 cartoon. The same cartoon that spawn hundreds of memes and has the famous catchy theme. Sadly, they only appeared in the post credits.
You will cry that they made a movie on some lame pathetic weakling.
I mean, look at this guy
Note- People who are only familiar with Aquaman from the show Superfriends see him as a joke and that his power is he talks to fish. However, through numerous comics and shows over the years, Aquaman was taken very seriously. Hopefully having a mainstream movie will put a stop to people calling the guy as a weakling. Saying he's lame after all these years is like saying Batman is still the same since his Adam West days.
1. You will cry...that the red white jet with red eyes, square black helmet...is not Starscream.
Great, It's bad enough that Disney got rid of several decades worth of Star Wars Expanded Universe stories, now I see this. Thanks alot Travis Knight, because of you, Transformers is Ruined Forever.
3. That Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are still not in it.
Man, no one came to see Transformers to see the Transformers, they came to see Shia and Megan. If they ain't here, than what's the point of watching?
4. That all the characters you actually recognized are in it for a few minutes.
OMG!!! It's Arcee and Cliffjumper and I can easily tell that's them. It's Shockwave and he actually sound like him. It's Starscream and a few of the Seekers and I see Acid Storm in the back. OMG!! It's Soundwave and Ravage and they have the iconic voice and...Wait...That's It?
Edit: turns out "Acid Storm" was Thrust. It was based on Thrust's Armada colors than G1
5. That's Barricade is not in it. Well if he's not in the movie, I can't make fun of him like usual.
6. That's a prequel to the 07 movie/a reboot/preboot/soft reboot/something.
Note#1- When the trailer 1st showed with the Transformers actually looking like their G1 counterparts. The last part of it showed what looked like Starscream but it was really Blitzwing.
Note#2-
Once upon a time, the Transformers movies had an "Expanded Universe". A collection of comics and books that take place before and between the movies. They were arguably better than the movies themselves. They did tell interesting stories, patched some plotholes, and actually made the movieverse... well coherent. Which is hard to believe when it comes to Michael Bay.
Well at least up to the 3rd movie. The 4th and 5th films didn't get tie-in material for some reason. The 5th movie clashed with the already established material with Bumblebee being on Earth a far lot longer with him fighting Nazis.
One of the earliest expanded universe stories was that on Cybertron, Bumblebee launched the Allspark into space. Mad that he lost the ancient relic to help his cause, Megatron punished Bee by ripping out his voicebox. This story was carried over to later shows, Prime and Cyberverse. Wither it's a prequel or reboot, the film ignores one major moment from the expanded universe. However it would be silly to hold a grudge against this new movie that's actually better than what he had in the past over a comic from way back in 2007.
Note#3- There is a minority of people who are still upset that Shia and Megan are still not in the later movies. I seriously doubt a 30+ year franchise is going to revolved around these two actors. Also, the film takes place in the 80s. Both Sam and Mikaela were high schoolers in the 07 movie, you do the math why they physically can't be in the movie.
Note#4- Most of the characters seen on Cybertron were simply cameos and those scenes are from the post production stage.
Note#5- There were early rumors of that the evil cop car, Barricade was going to be in the movie and he did have a 80s police car toy for the Bumblebee movie. He had an interesting history in the film series of him randomly disappearing before the final battle or him dying and then he reappears in a later movie like nothing happen.
I joked in Bumblebee, he was going to be completely destroyed, only to be retroactively miraculously alive in the 07 movie. However he wasn't in it and considering the direction that the future of the live-action movies ends up, it doesn't matter anymore.
Note#6- The movie was originally conceived as a prequel to the 07 movie. In the early versions, Bumblebee been on Earth for some time. After he split from Hot Rod after fighting Nazis back in the 40s and Bee is the run from the army.
There was even a comic of Bumblebee in 60s in James Bond spy adventure theme. It showed the rivalry between Bee and Blitzwing that would concluded in the upcoming movie.
Then reshoots happen and rewrote the opening of the movie. Bumblebee made his first ever landing on Earth in the 1980s. Starscream wasn't actively looking for Megatron and the Allspark and Soundwave was clearly on Cybertron rather than him on Earth, working with evil humans to help revive Sentinel. The prequel comic was clearly based on an early script but with all the reshoots, the comic itself ended up becoming incompatible with the movie it was promoting.
The movie ended up as a reboot of sorts. You can say it's like X-Men: First Class where it's both treated as a prequel and reboot. There were hints at the end that it's was originally going to be prequel with Bee taking a form of a 70s Camero as seen in the opening of the 07 movie and Megatron isn't present because he's frozen in ice for a century at Hoover Dam.
Also, that's suppose to be John Turturro in his younger days.
Here's the trailer
