Future Cops: The greatest Street Fighter movie you never heard of

We had several Street Fighter movies from the campy Van-Damme one, to the terrible Legend of Chun-Li, to the wonderful and faithful adaptions of the animated movie and Assassin's Fist, but there was one Street Fighter movie that most people were unaware of called Future Cops.

Future Cops is a Hong Kong film released in 1993, a year before the Van-Damme one. This came out a year isn't technically an official adaption of the game. The director Wong Jing wanted to make a Street Fighter movie but didn't get the rights to the characters, he still went ahead and made it with the characters renamed and redesigned to be loosely based knockoffs.

The same director eariler that year made a movie called City Hunter based on some anime that was popular at the time. There was one famous scene where Jackie Chan and a few other characters transformed into Street Fighter characters. However, Wong Jing wanted a whole movie based on these characters.

In the future of 2043, The evil man known as General is imprisoned and awaiting trial.

Based on the evil dictator M.Bison. Played by Ken Lo who is a member of Jackie Chan's Stunt Team.

General's three enforcers are planning to travel back in time to brainwash the General's judge in the past to release the evil man during trial.

Somehow, his gun did more damage than a entire squad of police officers barrage of lasers.

This is Thai King who is based on Sagat, the one-eye Muay Thai fighter. Played by Billy Chow who was the main villain from Jet Li's Fist of Legend.

The fighter in red is Kent is based on Ken(Ha), played by famous actor/musician Ekin Cheng. The sumo warrior is Toyota, based on E.Honda(Ha ha, you get it) and played by William Duen.

Yes, the heroic Ken and E.Honda are somehow baddies in this film.

A group of four men on hover scooters come to stop them, they are the Future Cops.

Lung based on the wondering fighter, Ryu. Both their names can be translated to Ryu. He is played by famous actor/singer/dancer Aaron Kwok.

The good guy Ti-Man(or Iron Mask) based on the evil claw wielding Spanish ninja, Vega. Played by famous singer/actor/producer, Andy Lau. Who is best known for House of Flying Daggers and Shaolin and has an asteroid named after him.

The man with the ridiculous hair is Broom Man(or Kwan-Lo) is based on the all-American Air Force man, Guile. Played by famous actor/musician, Jacky Cheung. He was in the Jackie Chan parody in Jet Li's Meltdown.

Ah Sing is based on the Indian stretchy yoga warrior, Dhalsim. Played by famous actor Simon Yam whose been in Ip Man, Killzone, Man of Tai Chi.

Now Guile, Vega, and Ryu are 3 of the 4 members of the Four Heavenly Kings. The most famous singers of the 90s in the Hong Kong area. Can you imagine how this low-budget knockoff of Street Fighter somehow has a huge all-star cast?

The forces of good and evil clash in epic fight full of special moves that faithful copied from the games themselves.

Unfortunately, the villains escaped to the year 1993 to find the judge called Yu Ti Hung back when he was in school.

The four Future Cops gather and talked about how they need to time travel to the 90s and protect the future judge from being brainwashed from the baddies. Their police captain tells them they have a special chip in their head that will prevent them from lying.

Also Lung is going to stay in the Future because according the captain, he's his wife's brother, meaning he's out of the entire movie.
I bet Ryu fans felt ripoff.

Suddenly the entire tone of the movie changed from this action-packed Street Fighter/Terminator film to this goofy slapstick high school comedy.

Not only this is an unofficial adaption of Street Fighter but of an anime called Doraemon. The newer cast members you see is based on them.

Tai Hung is a loser in high school. He's has failed high school so much that still stuck there at age 28. Ge is played by Dicky Cheung who is best known for playing the Monkey King in Journey to the West.

The love of his life is Choi Nei, played by Charlie Yeung.

The man with head made out of pure hair gel is Kei-on, played by famous singer Andy Hui. He loves to bully our the poor man by throwing paint or water on him. At class, he smacks him with a mace and trick Tai to accidently smacking the principal. Poor Tai gets sent to clean the floors as punishment.
Whoa!! Threatened to rape people on those who mock you. This is our hero folks.
Tho you can blame the crappy translation.

Tai notice a young beauty named Siu Wai feeling pity on him who played by Winnie Lau
Wait, I wouldn't date a girl called that. You don't want to get certain things from her unless you plan to visit the doctor often.

She invites him to an empty school room and asked about human biology.

Sadly it turns out to be a prank and she's actually dating Kei-on.

He goes home to see his mom, played by Kingdom Yuen whose been in ton of television. He also meets his sister Chun-Mai, who is played by Chingmy Yau whose was famous in the 90s and starred in dozen movies with Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Chun-Mai is based on Chinese fighter, Chun-Li

Chun-Mai is far more successful in her life as a post collage graduate and many boys come to her door to try to date her.

Tai Hung is so upset with his life, he tried to fight his sister, only to get whooped. Tried to commit suicide, only to fail. Argue towards the Lord by throwing a beer at the sky, only to have a giant beer barrel land on top of him.

Then he gets several visitors on his roof who appeared Terminator style with them crouching with lightning around (but completely clothed).
This freaked him out and run around like a chicken but he quickly cool down.
Your not Biff.

He wishes to win bets at horseraces but they asked him does he remember the horseraces in 1943 and if they did somehow know the horseraces, he would forgot and history would resume it's course. He let them stay in his room and they agree to help him deal with his bullies and help advance him in his studies while they search for the future judge, Yu Ti Hung.

Tai's mom brought her boyfriend and him speaking in English turns her on. I didn't know English was seen as sexy. He's played by Richard Ng who been in a dozen movies, including the Winners and Sinners/My Lucky Stars series.

Since the bully has his own maid at school, Ah Sing(Dhalsim) come as Tai Hung's servant. Kei-on got mad but Ah Sing uses his long arms and flaming breathe to teach him a lesson and made him accidently hit the principal in the head.

Meanwhile, Ti-man and Broom Man are bored and started eating shoes.
Then they heard the house's front door is closed, meaning the house is empty. The go raid the kitchen fridge.

Instead of the food inside, they eat the fridge itself.  I guess in the future, people get to eat anything.

They then heard Chun-May entering the house and Ti-man pretends to be a servant and uses his friend and his hair as a broom.
Tai Hung came in and start beating them. They tell the sister that they are very poor servants and hired to clean the house. Somehow those anti-lying chips aren't working, speaking about that.

Broom Man enrolled as a teacher while Ti-man as a 17 year old student born with an old face. Yep, those chips are still not working.

The teachers asked can Broom Man can create a science project.
He build that in less than half a minute.

Our Blond-hair American *sarcasm*, introduces himself to class and starts doing a musical scene.

I seriously doubt any fan would imagine Guile as a romantic singer.

The song is called Sana Kahit Minsan, it was originally a Filipino song but translated into Cantonese.

The student Crab Angel is totally hot for her new teacher. She starts to fantasize about her and him. At the end of the song, she couldn't separate reality from fantasy.
Totally parodying Ghost

Go home and become a family man Guile

People try to bully Ti-man but failed greatly. One time had them sneak a snake into his school bag.
To their surprise, he ripped off the reptile's liver and then wore the thing like a belt. I guess this is where Vega got the idea to have a snake tattoo. Also the dude is a pro at being a school slacker because the teacher threw books at him for sleeping in class, however..

The time travelers couldn't find the future judge and go back to Tai Hung's home. Chun-May is suspicious and for once, the movie actually remembered those anti-lying chips and poor Ti-man is electrocuted to the point he reveals everything to her. She asks for fancy jewelry and a new car or she will report her house intruders to the police.

Tai Hung suggest he should court Chun-May and go on a date.

So Vega and Chun-Li are on a date. It's funny because the games, as well as the numerous adaptations have Vega with a one-sided crush towards his enemy. And they are paired up to battle in the various  movies/shows

Their date is at an amusement park. They walk to a arcade machine.
He uses a remote to take them inside the game itself and talk about AIDS.  Yes Vega and Chun-Li are cosplaying as Mario and Luigi and talk about AIDS. Weirdest date ever.

The thing is that he doesn't know how to court a girl because in 2043.
He mentions that everyone is a test tube baby and if your wanting to do it, you take orgasm pills.

However, he trips with the pills in his hand and then Chun-May suddenly acts horny around the future cop.
And the viewers noticed something interesting going on the arcade machine.

The two lovebirds are teleported back to the real world and she noticed everyone looking at her. She slaps her date and runs away all embarrassed.

He found her at home and say sorry. He mentions he is a virgin because of his era's rules. He compared courting a girl is like mahjong.
He admits he likes to "shuffle the pieces" but won't go into detail.

Tai Hung is going to the sports games. Choi Nei made him a sweater to cheer him up.
Clearly it doesn't fit.

Ah Sing gives Tai some special chips that will temporally give him special powers because remember, cheating is fun.

The sports announcers seriously doubt a loser like Tai Hung will win and bet he will eat the microphone.(He lost the bet) He bets again he will eat an entire table if the school loser wins again.

Meanwhile, the bully Kei-on is at the arcade when he encounters the three future criminals.

They work together and planned to get into the school to find the future judge.
These two plan to attack Crab Angel but a dashing new teacher whirlwind kicks them away.

Kent the new teacher.

Kent threw special darts at Ti-Man that will regress his mind to a baby and die by the end of the day.

He picks up Crab Angel and takes her to the convenience store, 8-12.

Broom Man followed them and Kent shows his true colors. This led to one giant epic battle between the two blond Americans.*sarcasm* The whole place was getting destroyed with sonic booms, hadokens, shelves and cars being thrown.

Chun-May is worried about Ti-Man dying and ponders of a future together in Super Mario.
Thankfully they got the antidote to reverse what's happening to man.

Meanwhile in the future, a group of men break General out of his prison. The freed villain plans to go back in time to ruin Yu Ti Hung.
Psycho Crusher

Seems Sephiroth copied his epic scene from this moment.

Tai Hung is now very popular in school having his birthday party.
In the worse outfit ever.

His mom and her boyfriend Richard come over. The made an announcement to everyone that he and her are getting married and Tai said, "Your telling all my friends your screwing with my mom?!" They quickly made up afterwards.

Richard told him after the wedding, Tai's surname will be changed.
He was right there all along.

The loser turned popular guy realized that he is the future judge and freaks out and cowards in a corner since he's the one everyone is after.

The General has taken over the school and put special chips in all the students and teachers, turning everyone at the place into a insane asylum
Principal M. Bison

Kent asks that having hostages is wrong but General is angry that he is showing pity and threw him to the side.

General announced to all T.V. stations in the city to tell Yu Ti Hung to surrender or all the hostages will be destroyed.

The Future Cops have special chips that will give their friends powers. Chun-May gets hers inserted harmlessly.

She morphs into her battle outfit. People have commented she also resembles Juri but she didn't 1st appeared till 2010.

They also insert one in the future judge but it's inserted in a more painful manner.
Total Recall style.

His powers didn't activate since he is a coward and runs away and pack his clothes till..
He remembers the ugly sweater that was made for him.

The mother and her boyfriend entered and were given special chips as well.

Next scene is the epic climax of the entire movie. Thai King gets to fight two Chun-Lis.
The mother morphs into Chun-Doi.

People wonder why there is two Chun-Lis rather than morph into Cammy or something. However this film came out a few months before Super Street Fighter, so Chun-Li was the only available female fighter at the time.

Meanwhile, the Future Cops battled against the evil General.

And Richard who is powered up is now called Green Wolf.

He's based on jungle warrior, Blanka.

His famous move from the games, the rolling cannon is well...
He turns into a beachball that shoots electricity.

Meanwhile the future judge finds his courage and morphs into.
Goku from Dragonball. I'm not joking. You have Goku in a Street Fighter movie.

Some thought he's suppose to be Akuma due to similar outfit and hair but this film was this was released a whole year before Akuma's 1st appearance.

The baddies were defeated and the good guy plan to head back into the future.

Ah Sing is sad he didn't get a love interest.

Ryu shows up Terminator-style but with his clothes.
Hey, you miss out on the entire movie.

He tells them a Super Sa Ah Man arrived in 1993 and they need to stop him and the adventure continues in some never made sequel. From what I read, Super Sa Ah Man is suppose to be Super Sayian.

Future Cops is an very silly movie. It's full of slapstick that's all over the place. It's also full of epic fights that copied the fighting style of the games very well. This puts both theatrical live-action movies to shame as well as Dragonbal Evolution. Heck, this is a better Goku in high school movie.
