What makes a Final Fantasy Hero: Part 2.1: Big Players

I'm going to make a three part series about the main heroes of each Final Fantasy. I be talking about the main series and their sequels/prequels/spin-offs. I was never into the MMO FF games so be skipping 11 and 14. I haven't played 15 or Type-0 yet so I won't discuss them.

I posted this as a joke to friends a long time ago. It was make fun of certain cliches that started to become noticeable with the main characters in the game.

One thing I notice is that most of these characters is they somehow have alot girls pining over them or guys pining over the female lead.

Be warned, there are major spoilers in every game I mention. So if you haven't played a certain Final Fantasy that you plan to play in the future. Skip the character entry.

From Final Fantasy 1 is The Warrior of Light.
The 1st game had a bare bones plot and the didn't have actual main characters with personality, they have generic characters based on jobs/classes.

The muiltversial fighting crossover game called Dissidia have a character based on the Warrior class called, The Warrior of Light.

In the 12th cycle in Dissidia, he spent a long time guarding the goddess Cosmos.
While everyone was killing each other, he was spending most of the time watching over her. According to the post-game notes, he is a clone of Cid of the Lufaine and she is a clone of Cid's wife. It wouldn't be hard to put 2 by 2 together.

Final Fantasy 2 has the rebel, Firion.

So how big a player is Firion? Well during one scene. The princess wanted to discuss to Firion in private. She then moved to a her bed.
He was getting all shy and nervous on the event. Then the princess turn into a lamia monster, explaining the real princess got kidnap. Luckily, his friends showed up and kill the monster.

He didn't really had a personality with his select few lines. His shyness in that one scene is pretty much one of the select few signs him having a personality. Funny enough, it ended up in Dissidia where he was embarrassed to talk to Lightning.

Here's a funny 1-minute clip of Firion and Lightning.

Well the real reason he wanted to talk to Lightning was she had a flower in her hand which gave Firion memories of his homeworld. To Firion, a grown man asking back flowers is embarrassing.

According to a novel that came out the same time the game was release(Which never arrive in western shores). It's said he ended up with his fellow teammate, Maria.

Final Fantasy 3 has the Onion Knight.
The third game did went back to nameless faceless characters. However the game allows you to change classes through out the game instead of picking out your party at the beginning of the game. The starting class of the game is Onion Knight.

The DS remake did give them names, faces, and distinct personalities. It didn't change the game's story too much.

Dissidia on the other hand went back closer to the original Onion Knight's appearance and gave him a unique personality compare to his DS remake counterparts.

So how big a playboy is he? Well in Dissidia, he was seen traveling with Terra who is an older and mature woman.

If you want to go by the 4 separate characters in the DS version. Well Ingus was a soldier at a castle before joining the group and it's clear he and the princess have feelings for each other.

Also they're main foe is a practically a near naked woman.

Final Fantasy 4 has the dark knight turned paladin named Cecil.

FF4 is when the series started giving their characters full personalities and deeper plots. Cecil's transformation into a paladin is a sign of his path of redemption to clear his wrongdoings from the 1st hour of the game.

So how big a stud is he? Well throughout the game, you see generic dancers who want to entertain you.

At the end of the game, he marries his long time love called Rosa. The sequel game, The After Years, you see their son, Ceodore. The means that Cecil is one of the few canon non-virgin FF heroes.

I should mention Palom who has a dwarf princess mechanic and an magic apprentice from a all women village in the sequel. Not a main character but worth mentioning.

Final Fantasy 5 has the wandering traveler named Bartz.
Bartz was traveling the world when a meteor crashed down nearby. Shortly after, he was tasked to save the four crystals.

So how big a Casanova is he? Very big. After Galuf pass away, Bartz's entire party was with 3 princesses.

Galuf knew early on that Bartz had the hots for Lenna. When the pirate called Faris was discovered to be the long lost princess, she was dressed up in royal gowns. This was Bartz reaction.

At his hometown, a regular nameless woman she said " I umm... missed you".

There was a anime miniseries that takes place 500 years after FF5 starring some descendants of Bartz. That means he got with somebody and he's also one of the few canon non-virgins in FF series.

Final Fantasy 6 is an interesting case. It doesn't has one main character, it has several. The game has this really huge cast. I will discuss the three that comes across as main characters.

The first one is the mysterious girl from the empire named Terra.
She was this mysterious girl from the evil empire that was brainwashed to do it's bidding. She got free but has no memories. She somehow uses magic without the use of espers.

So how big of a .... uhh. *tries to look up a female word that's not negative* Well anyways, moving on...

For one, there is the thief, excuse me, I mean treasure hunter Locke was very over protective of her when he first found her in the caves.

When she met King Edger Figaro, he was seriously hitting on her. (He hits on every girl he sees, however he's not one of the main characters so I won't be discussing him)

She at one point had a serious conversation with General Leo on what love is.

In Dissidia, she had 9 men to herself. (She was the token female on the heroes side. The later Dissidia games had alot more females on the good side.

In those games, both the Onion Knight and Vaan were traveling with her and over protective of her.

She was also with Cloud and had a serious conversation of flowers
Their dreams are to make a world full of flowers. Yeah, it sounds corny. You can blame Firion for inspiring them.

The other main character is the thief..excuse me, treasure hunter called Locke.

Locke is a part of a rebel force and help introduce Terra to other rebels.

So how big a ladiesman is he? Well he was overprotective of Terra when he first found her in the caves.

He was also overprotective of Celes when he freed her from the evil empire's prison. When he saw Celes disguised herself as an opera star, his face turn beet red.

In the 2nd half of the game, when the end of the world happen and everybody was believed to be dead. Celes was thinking of Locke the most and found his bandanna washed ashore on a beach and treasure it.

Him wanting to protect women was due to his tragic past. He and his girlfriend were exploring a cave till an accident happen and gave her amnesia. He was kick out of the town by her angry father. One day while out of town, the empire attack the village and she died.

The next main character is this opera floozy.. I mean former general called Celes.
Locke freed her from her prison when she speak out against the empire's evil methods. She changed sides and joined the rebels.

So how big a ... Uhh..Anyways..

I basically said about her and Locke.

She disguise herself as a famous opera star to get in contact with an airship pilot called Setzer to help their cause. When Setzer found out she wasn't the opera star, he asked her to merry him.
